FAQ's
What should I bring to lessons?
Swimming suit (our water can be chilly so a swim shirt or bodysuit is allowed), goggles, and a towel. Make sure your child's goggles fit their face tightly or they will leak water into the lenses. Additionally, snorkeling mask type goggles (with a nose cover) will not be permitted for lessons because they do not allow for proper air exchange.
What does a typical first day of lessons look like?
When you arrive at the pool, find a seat in the bleachers behind the rope (you do not need to check-in). We will go over the pool rules and introduce our coaches and supervisors. When your child is paired with their coach, the coaches will take them to the lane they will be in for the rest of the session. The coach will start with level 1 skills and progress until the swimmer can no longer demonstrate the skills. This will determine the level of the swimmer. The supervisors will go to each lane to watch the swimmers and talk to classes to make sure we have the appropriate starting level for each child. If a child is in the wrong class, we will move them to the correct class at that time. The coaches will continue to work with the swimmers until the end of the class time. At the end of the lesson, our lifeguard will blow the whistle and the swimmers will exit the water.
My child passed to the next level only a few days into the session! Who is my child’s new coach?
Your child will continue to work with their current coach! Even though some of the kids in the class are still working on the skills your child just mastered, the coach will work with your child on their new skills. Our coaches are trained to teach all levels.
I signed my child up for the next session and they progressed faster than I thought they would. Do they have to take that level again next session even though they already passed?
No, they do not have to repeat the levels they passed! We will move them and make the adjustments necessary!
