our program
Our swimming lessons program follows a structured 10-level progression designed to build comfort, confidence, and efficiency in the water. From foundational safety skills to refined stroke technique, swimmers develop the abilities they need not only to be safe but to enjoy swimming as a lifelong activity. Our goal oriented approach allows swimmers to progress as soon as they master each level, rather than waiting for a session to end keeping them engaged and continually challenged. With a low instructor to swimmer ratio, we ensure personalized attention, enhanced safety, and meaningful skill development every step of the way, preparing participants for the transition into competitive swimming.

BEGINNER (LEVELS 1-3)
Level 1: Swimmers begin with gradual water adaptation working toward the advancement goal of 10 relaxed bobs with air exchange. We want to see a relaxed reaction to getting our ears wet, and the ability to drive motion with our hips to go from a face down position, to face up.
Level 2: Swimmers work toward guided independence in the water, mastering back and front floats and glides from a ready position. Flutter kicking is introduced.
Level 3: Swimmers incorporate kicking into front and back glides, working independently from the wall. Along with kicking, body balance, streamlining, and body dolphin kick are emphasized.
INTERMEDIATE (LEVELS 4-7)
Level 4: Transition from beginner to intermediate swimming, where swimmers begin refining their freestyle (front crawl) into a more confident and efficient stroke. Swimmers focus on developing proper body position and controlled breathing through drills like side glide kick, which introduces and reinforces side breathing. Building on this, the 7-3-7 drill integrates arm movement with rhythmic breathing to promote balanced bilateral breathing to both sides.
Level 5: Swimmers build on their developing freestyle by applying proper technique, breathing and body position over a full 25 yards. In level 5, swimmers also will learn the fundamentals of backstroke, including body position and basic movement. They will also be practicing unsupported flutter kick in streamline, helping them build balance and independence in the water. This work reinforces core stability and improves overall propulsion.
Levels 6/7: Swimmers build freestyle and backstroke endurance. They will also develop treading skills in addition to the mechanics of breaststroke and butterfly. Once swimmers complete level 5, they are encouraged and welcome to sign up for a group placement evaluation with Casper Swim Club for Gold group.
ADVANCED (LEVELS 8-10)
In level 8 through 10, swimmers focus on refining technique and building endurance across all four competitive strokes. Emphasis is placed on swimming longer distances with efficiency and maintaining strong form under fatigue. Swimmers begin developing a 100 yard individual medley, learning to transition smoothly between strokes while managing pacing. They are also introduced to racing skills such as dives and leaving the wall on set intervals, helping them build timing, awareness, and readiness for a swim club environment.
Once swimmers complete level 10, they have reached the highest level offered through CASC Lessons. At this point, many are over prepared to transition to Casper Swim Club, the parent program and a competitive team environment. While the club offers opportunities for competition, participation in meets is not required. We encourage swimmers to stay well rounded and remain involved in other activities, so there is no strict attendance policy. Swimmers are welcome to join the team at any point during the season once they have completed a group placement evaluation.

Pool Safety, Rules & Guidelines
Safety is the highest priority at CASC Lessons. We maintain clear, comprehensive pool safety guidelines to ensure a secure and positive environment for all participants. Our experienced instructors and supervisors actively enforces these standards while providing ongoing guidance to support safe swimming practices. Certified lifeguards are on deck during every session, and many of our instructors also hold lifeguard certifications.
We also ask families and spectators to support these efforts by following established safety expectations. Children must be supervised at all times in the viewing areas, restrooms, and hallways, and should never be left unattended. As part of our facility policies, lock room use is not permitted during lessons unless a swimmers has a pre-disclosed skin condition or allergy to chlorine that requires access. In those cases, an alternative arrangement will be made as appropriate.
By consistently upholding these policies, including expectations for behavior, equipment use, and emergency procedure, we are committed to providing a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for swimmers of all ages.
